Soccer is a great way to introduce children to sports and team play. Firehawks Soccer Club was started as a youth program of the Holden Optimist Club teaching the fundamentals of soccer. The Firehawks Soccer Club is designed to develop and challenge players, but most of all, allow them to have fun. The first couple of years the youth program played in Holden. About the third year added a U12 team playing in an informal league with Warrensburg Park & Rec. Teams included Warrensburg, Clinton, Whiteman, Concordia and Holden. The traveling program grew to 4 teams playing in Warrensburg ranging from U10 to U15. In 2008 the Firehawks Soccer Club started playing in the Kansas City Suburban Soccer League (KCSSL) with 6 teams. Today we play in the Kansas City Metro Soccer League. The Firehawks Soccer Club officially changed its name in May 2009 to Holden Optimist Soccer Club (HOSC) and we became a member of Missouri Youth Soccer Association (MYSA). The Club continues to use the Firehawks name for some of its teams. We are a volunteer-run organization committed to provide our community with a low cost, high quality soccer program. Over 100 kids from Holden and Kingsville participate each fall and spring with ages ranging from 3 to 16 years old. Game Location: We have 2 locations
Traveling teams play in Kansas City Metro Soccer league (KCML). The current members consist of the following: Blue Springs Soccer Club, FC Southland, Harrisonville Optimist Soccer Club, Pleasant Hill Soccer Association, Futura FC, Lee’s Summit Soccer Association, Metro East Soccer Club, Raymore-Peculiar Soccer Club, Raytown Soccer Club, and Soccer Association of Independence. Uniforms/Gear: The HOSC will order team jerseys in the Fall based on sizes noted on the registration form. The uniform shirts are expected to last for the Fall AND Spring seasons. For the Spring season the club will provide uniform shirts only for those players that did not play in the Fall and therefore did not already receive a uniform shirt. Shin guards are required at all ages to participate in games and practices. Soccer cleats are also required U8 and older. Players need their own soccer ball for practice. Ball Size:
Ages: HOSC starts at age 3 and up (as of August 1st). Year is based on Aug 1st to July 31st. We have boys, girls and coed teams. The age requirement is only evaluated once a year. Therefore your child must be 3 years old by August 1st to participate in the fall soccer session. Team Organization: HOSC strives to balance talent when forming team. Kids are placed on the division appropriate per their age. |
